Melanie Reim can always be found with a sketchbook never far from her side. She is best known for her reportage illustration and her love for drawing and teaching. Since 1996, Reim has taught Illustration and Figure Drawing at FIT in NYC, where she led the MFA in Illustration program and is currently the Associate Dean for the School of Art and Design. Melanie also conducts drawing workshops around the globe, feeding her love for travel and for meeting and drawing all kinds of people-and protests, is the recipient of a SUNY Chancellors Award and is a Fulbright Scholar. Reim’s work is featured in numerous books and articles about illustration and drawing on location. Her work is part of the Air Force Art Collection in the Pentagon in Washington, DC, and has been included in the Society of Illustrators NY Annual Show, SILA, Society of Illustrators Los Angeles Annual Show, American Illustration and Latin American Illustration. Her work has appeared in many solo and group exhibitions, in the US and abroad. Melanie was named as the 2018 Distinguished Educator in the Arts by the Society of Illustrators in NY.
